Tasting notes

Royal Premium pours a deep amber liquor with a copper rim. On the nose: honeyed malt, dried apricot, and a whisper of muscatel. On the palate: brisk, full-bodied, finishing with a clean malt-and-cocoa echo.

How it's made

• Two leaves and a bud, hand-plucked at dawn
• 18-hour cool wither on bamboo troughs
• Orthodox rolling to shape the twist
• Controlled 4-hour oxidation
• Two-stage firing at 120°C then 90°C
• Nitrogen-flushed sealing within 6 hours of firing

Brewing guide

One heaped teaspoon per cup. Water at 95°C. Steep 3–4 minutes for a clean cup, up to 5 minutes for a fuller body. Enjoy plain, with a dash of milk, or with a slice of lemon.
